The article aims is to present the contributing factors to the average interest
rate in Marx. We start from the hypothesis that determination of this rate is given
by a combination of elements, related to autonomization of the functional forms of
capital. In our view, some of these functional forms (such as interest-bearing capital and
fictitious capital) are predominant and deeply interfere in the dynamic of accumulation
of contemporary capitalism. Hence it is because the debate reappears contextualized,
taking into account the inversion movement of the categories, the higher degree of
mystification from financial movements of capital and the recent capitalist crises.
