ABSORPTION CAPACITY, KNOWLEDGE AND CATCH-UP PROCESSES

Abstract

Technological revolutions take place and reconfigure the global capitalist system. The diffusion of new technologies can take place according to a systemic expansionist logic or through domestic efforts of backward regions. This article deals with technological learning, interpreted as a strategic element for the propagation of technological revolutions. This spread can vary according to the degree of initiative from the point of view of the backward region - passive or active insertion, that is, the absorption capacity has different degrees of construction. In the final considerations, it is suggested that initiatives in the periphery must combine four phases: mapping, choice, assimilation and consolidation – the phase in which positive feedback processes emerge.
