INSIDE THE BRIC: ANALYSIS OF THE SEMIPERIPHERAL NATURE OF BRAZIL, RUSSIA, INDIA AND CHINA
Abstract
The objective of this investigation is to do a broad revision and reconstruction of the concept of semi-periphery, where the original ideas of Immanuel Wallerstein can be articulated to the developments made by other contemporaneous world-systems theorists. Once this goal is accomplished, the study of the semiperipheral nature – both internal and systemic – of the so-called “BRIC” countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China) in the international context of Post-Cold War.
