Developing professionals for primary health care: the participation of the School of Nursing of the University of Rio Grande do Sul

Abstract

The authors study the development of the professionals related to the Primary Health Attention, through the “Escola de Enfermagem da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (EEUFRGS)” participation. The first approach is regarding the sociopolitical and economical situation of the present moment in the country, through the evaluation of the curriculum models used throughout the history of the nursing education. The second approach used in this study is the discussion of the disciplines embraced in the public heath field in the trajectory of the EEUFRGS, the proposed subjects, the adopted strategies, the contradictions experienced, and, finally, the study analysis the ways perceived in this process.
