Technologies of the self in nursing: a map and some considerations on a Foucaultian theme

Abstract

This article presents the methodological process and the results of a literature review study aimed at mapping the scientific literature on technologies of the self, emphasizing the nursing area, as well as analyzing the use of Michel Foucault’s reference framework in this area. In addition to positioning Brazilian production in the international scene, this study shows the gradual consolidation of this author’s contribution with respect to this and other specific themes, as part of a tendency that shows the potential of this theoretical perspective.
