Abstract

This study aims to investigate the meaning of newborn care under the perspective of the nursing carer of a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil. A qualitative research was developed with phenomenological approach and the instrument to collect the data was a semi-structured interview. The informers of the study were five (5) nurses and four (4) nursing assistants and technicians. Through the care of self and of the other the human being’s development is made possible, while a being that cares.
