Diabetes Melittus: the university in the health team training

The authors describe their experiences as a multiprofessional team working at two Basic Health Units (BHU) in Londrina city 1995. The work involved medical, nursing students and residents. The goals were: a) to train BHU teams in the assistance of diabetic patients; b) exprose students to teaching experiences at the BHUs, emphasizing multiprofessionality; c) to establish na hierarchy and provide suitable treatment for the BHUs diabetes clientele. A total of 106 diabetic patients were assisted. The project involved 22 students and 37 professionals. A questionnaire assessment indicated that the goals were anchieved. The experience is considered valid as a teaching and inservice training.Downloads
