The use of orem’s self – care theory in adolescent under continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis

Abstract

The Orem’s Self – Care Theory was used as a guide for a nursing care plan of a 16 years-old adolescent with renal failure in continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialyses (CAPD). The theory was usedto assess the self-care deficits, the ability of the family to meet the patient’s self – care demands, and the nursing actions needed in this case.
