Abstract

The authors describe the consolidation of nursing as a profession and the development of this type of knowledge, reporting some health problems in Latin America. They characterize the scientific production in Brazilian nursing through the analysis of a evaluation studies on research. They finally determine how far this knowledge has developed in this knowledge has developed in this century.
