Abstract

Childhood is a period of great importance during which the children´s potentiality for growth and development are flourishing, regarding either biological, psycho-social or cognitive aspects. Aiming at attending to the global needs of the children and being aware of the Nursing Staff of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in the Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre has been carrying on a program of stimulus to the children in such unit. The authors describe the program and report the plann that has been developed, underlining its importance.
