35 YEARS OF SUS: NURSING IN DEFENSE OF HEALTH AS A RIGHT

Summary

The call aims to disseminate knowledge, for the registration and technical-scientific advancement, of what is produced in and for the Brazilian Unified Health System (Sistema Único de Saúde - SUS), with emphasis on the role of Nursing in its defense and consolidation.

SUS is defined in Law No. 8,080 of 1990 as the set of Public Health actions and services of the direct and indirect administration and the foundations maintained by the government, provided by federal, state and municipal public agencies and institutions.  It is a fact that SUS is one of the largest and most complex public health systems in the world. It is guided by a set of principles and guidelines valid for the entire Brazilian territory. Since SUS' conception to its operation, nursing plays a leading role, being the largest professional category in the system and the one that spends most time with people, thus being essential in the composition of work teams. Additionally, it recognizes integral care as a product of collaborative and multi professional work.

Manuscripts that explore the consolidation of SUS from the perspective of the right to health will be especially considered for publication in this call.

Thematic axes

  1. Attention and care in health/nursing in the consolidation of SUS: Care practices at the individual, family, community, and collective levels that strengthen the principles and guidelines of SUS and nursing performance.
  2. Epidemiology and surveillance in SUS: Monitoring the health and disease status, and the relationship of Nursing in situational intervention.
  3. Management, financing and sustainability of SUS: Studies on the planning and management of work, resources and processes for sustainable health, considering social control.
  4. Equity and inclusion in SUS: Studies on the understanding and reduction of inequities in health, as well as the guarantee of rights in access to comprehensive care, with emphasis on social determinants and their intersections (gender, race/ethnicity, sexuality, social class, age group, disability, regional inequalities, among others), considering the role of Nursing in promoting social justice.
