CALL FOR THE SPECIAL ISSUE OF THE REVISTA GAÚCHA DE ENFERMAGEM (RGE)
Title: Implementation science in nursing, health, and education
Summary
The call aims to disseminate knowledge for technical-scientific advancement in clinical practice, teaching, research, and management in health and nursing by using the implementation science.
It starts from the understanding that implementation science consists of the study of methods that seek to evaluate the systematic and successful incorporation of scientific evidence into the routine of health professionals. Focuses on the sustainability of adopting practices in different contexts and on the involvement of stakeholders in the implementation process. It involves the study of barriers and facilitators, evaluation studies of process, results, and different strategies for its implementation.
Articles that explore the application of implementation science and that demonstrate the sustainability of practices from the perspective of the community interested in nursing, health, and education services will be especially considered for publication.
Thematic axes
Manuscripts must be theoretically and/or methodologically related to the implementation science and related to one of the following thematic axes:
- a) Systematic incorporation of research results that involve patients, families, community, and other interested parties (stakeholders).
- b) Development of policies, programs, and interventions that aim to solve problems and its implementation in nursing, health, and education services.
- c) Implementation of interventions based on solid evidence of nursing and healthcare practice.
- d) Monitoring and evaluation of interventions implemented in nursing, health, and education services.
- e) Actions to improve the teaching-learning process in nursing, health, and education.
Article categories
– Original articles (according to RGE standards).
– Systematic reviews, including meta-analyses and meta-syntheses; and scoping review. Review protocols must be registered on reliable and freely accessible registration platforms such as PROSPERO, OSF and others (according to RGE standards).
– Protocols of experimental studies or implementation studies: must be properly regulated (Certificate of Presentation of Ethical Appreciation from the responsible institutions, Clinical Trials/Protocol Registration and Results System, Brazilian Registry of Clinical Trials – ReBec, ClinicalTrials.gov, etc.). They must be up to 12 pages long and follow the recommendations in the SPIRIT checklist (https://www.spirit-statement.org/protocol-version/).
Review protocols, integrative review studies, experience reports, and theoretical-reflective articles will not be accepted.
Only one manuscript per author and co-authors is recommended, produced from data generated, at most, in the last 5 (five) years.
The evaluation process will follow the procedures used for regular editions, described in the RGE standards.
Manuscripts must be submitted to the Revista Gaúcha de Enfermagem website (https://mc04.manuscriptcentral.com/rgenf-scielo) and follow the same flow as the regular issues. When writing the article, the technical standards of the journal available at http://www.scielo.br/revistas/rgenf/pinstruc.htm must be followed.
It is mandatory in the letter to the editor to explain that the article is being sent to the special issue “Implementation science in nursing, health, and education” and the corresponding thematic axis. This identification must be entered in the “author’s cover letter” field, which corresponds to step 6 of the submission via ScholarOne.
