Keywords:

The present work sought to investigate the scientific knowledge about genetic engineering of 25 high school Biology teachers of the 17 public and 12 private schools of a municipal district in the southeast of the State of Piauí. Genetic engineering was chosen in function of it generally still generating much doubt among the population. For this analysis a questionnaire was used with 13 questions made up of questions addressed to genetic engineering, its products, forms of updating and its daily importance to the people. From the results obtained it can be inferred that the faculty members interviewed possess little scientific knowledge and are sometimes mistaken about the theme addressed, concluding that they need scientific updating.Downloads
