First report of endophytic fungi in leaves of Ixora coccinea L. in Pernambuco, Brazil

This study evaluated the endophytic mycoflora associated with leaves of Ixora coccinea L. (Rubiaceae). Endophytic fungi were isolated from healthy leaves of ten ornamental plants in gardens of private houses of the towns of Região da Mata Norte, in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil. 530 endophytic fungi were isolated, belonging to six genera: Curvularia, Fusarium, Guignardia, Pestalotiopsis, Phoma, and Xylaria. Phoma and Curvularia were the most frequent fungi recorded from Ixora coccinea in all towns surveyed. The results presented in this study represent the first report about the composition of the endophytic fungi associated with Ixora coccinea in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil.Downloads
