The genus Aeschynomene (Leguminosae, Faboideae, Dalbergieae) in the Upper Paraná River floodplain, Brazil

Abstract

Floristic inventories in the Upper Paraná River floodplain shows the family Leguminosae, Faboideae in particular, with one of the highest richness floristic. This study presents a survey of the genus Aeschynomene L., to this floodplain in the states of Mato Grosso do Sul and Paraná (22°38’–22°57’ S and 53°05’–53°36’ W), in the Mata Atlântica Biom. The plant material was obtained by collection and examination of the Herbarium of the Universidade Estadual de Maringá (HUEM). They were recognized eight species: Aeschynomene americana L., A. brasiliana DC., A. denticulata Rudd, A. falcata (Poir.) DC., A. fluminensis Vell., A. histrix Poir, A. montevidensis Vogel and A. sensitiva Sw., and distributed in the sections Aeschynomene and Ochopodium.
