Polygalaceae in the restingas of the Pará state, Brazil

We are presenting a floristic study of Polygalaceae from restingas Pará State. This study was based on bibliographical data, rising of the samples collected in restingas and deposited in the herbaria of the Museum Paraense Emílio Goeldi (MG) and of Embrapa Amazônia Oriental (IAN), as well as through supplementary collections of botanical material, keys of identification of the genera and species of this family were elaborated, accompanied of taxonomic co mment, geographical distribution and illustrations of the taxa studied. They were detected four genera, nine species and one variety of Polygalaceae: Asemeia martiana (A.W. Benn) J.F.B. Pastore & J.R. Abbott, A. monticola (Kunth) J.F.B. Pastore & J.R. Abbott, A. rhodoptera (Mart. ex A.W.Benn.) J.F.B. Pastore & J.R. Abbott, Bredemeyera laurifolia (A. St.-Hil.) Klotzsch ex A.W. Benn., Caamembeca spectabilis (DC.) J.F.B. Pastore var. spectabilis, Polygala adenophora DC., P. appressa Benth., P. longicaulis Kunth, P. trichosperma Jacq. and Securidaca diversifolia (L.) S.F. Blake. The restingas of Pará start to contain the largest wealth of species of this family in Brazil, presenting six new occurrences for his coastal ecosystem.Downloads
