Floristic composition of Desmidiales (except Cosmarium) on a Brazilian subtropical lake
Keywords:
artificial lake, desmids, ParanáAbstract
The objective of this study was to observate of the desmids floristic composition, occupied habitat and occurrence in Paraná State. The biological material was collected in four sampling stations of the lake coast region. A total of 24 samples were collected between 2007 and 2008. The samples analyses allowed the description of 31 taxa distributed among 10 genera. This taxonomic survey contributed to six new records to Parana State: Actinotaenium cruciferum (De Bary) Teiling, A. cruciferum f. latius (De Bary) Teiling, Closterium navicula (Brébisson) Lütkemuller var. crassum (West & West) Grӧnblad., Micrasterias truncata (Corda) Brébisson ex Ralfs var. crenata (Brébisson) Reinsch, Staurastrum gurgeliense Schimidle and Staurastrum hystrix Ralfs. The genera that had more representative number of species were Closterium (8), Micrasterias (6) and Actinotaenium (4). Regarding the percentage of occupancy of habitat by desmids in the studied ecosystem, 100% of taxa were recorded in metaphyton, 54.8% recorded in periphyton, and 45.2% in phytoplankton. Only 6.5% (two taxa) were recorded in the three habitat types.Downloads
