Floristics of a remnant of High Montane Mixed Ombrophilous Forest and Grassland, Urupema, Santa Catarina, Brazil

The study of regional flora provides information at specific and infraspecific levels of its variability in order to help in management and conservation of forest remnants.The aim of this study was to assess plant species of a remnant of a High Montane Mixed Ombrophilous Forest and adjacent areas, which can provide basic information for future studies on social, economical and ecological concern at a regional level. The survey was carried on “Fazenda das Nascentes”, an area of 1,367.43 ha, and 1,425 m a.s.l., in Urupema, Santa Catarina, Brazil. The methodology used was walk-through surveys, contemplating the forest and adjacent areas, with monthly sampling of botanical species, from September 2007 to September 2008, concerning about sampling species form all habits inside the herborized parcels and its adjacent areas. Were sampled a total of 217 taxa belonging to 145 genera in 81 families. Among all these species, 106 were found inside the forest 98 in anthropized grasslands and forest borders and 13 from swamps. The highest number of species belong to Asteraceae (62 species), followed by Solanaceae (16 species), Myrtaceae (15 species), and Poaceae (9 species). There were indentified 61 arboreal species, 40 shrub-like, 21 subshrub, 76 herbaceous and 19 climbing plant.Downloads
