Abstract

The participation in sports has become increasingly popular, and skin lesions caused by physical activity as well. Physical therapy seeks to address these injuries and their main goal is to reduce the healing time. The aim of this study was to analyze the effects of microscopic low level laser therapy, 670 nm, in the healing process of skin lesions induced in adult rats and to compare the effects of two energy doses. A total of 15 rats were divided into three groups: GC (n = 5) control group; G2J (n = 5) group using the laser with an intensity of 2 J/cm2; G4J (n = 5) with the use of group 4 J/cm2. For the lesion procedure, surrounded by a cast in EVA, withdrew from the animal skin in the cervicodorsal region using surgical scalpel, and made two similar lesions near the scapulae (1 cm2). The treatment was performed for 10 consecutive days from the injury date; the lesion near the right scapula, the dose of energy was deposited in the lesion corners. The results on the reepithelialization tongue showed that the only significant difference G4J. Regarding the metaphase cells number was not found significant difference between treated and control groups. We concluded that treatment with laser in the established dosimetry in this study was not effective in increasing the metaphase cells number. However, was verified positive effect with the dose of 4J/cm2 by measuring the reepithelialization tongue.
