This paper presents two reports of rabies in frugivorous bats, Artibeus lituratus (Mammalia: Chiroptera: Phyllostomidae) in Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil. The isolated viruses were characterized antigenically using monoclonal antibodies panel, but have been considered genetically. Analysis of the results showed that the samples isolated from A. lituratus presented antigenic variant consistent with that isolated from Desmodus rotundus, the common vampire bat.
