Abstract

O artigo sintetiza uma pesquisa empírica sobre aspectos socioeconômicos e educacionais da região de Mococa em São Paulo. Dentre as contribuições estão a elaboração do Índice de Exclusão Social Regional de Mococa (IESRM) e as análises de dados sobre renda e escolaridade formal dos municípios da região e suas implicações no desenvolvimento econômico regional. A metodologia do IESRM e as análises discutidas no artigo podem ser aplicadas a outras regiões, possibilitando a realização de pesquisas empíricas sobre questões significativas em políticas públicas e planos diretores educacionais ou em outras áreas.
