Abstract

The objective of this article is to investigate and compare the employment profiles between the municipalities belonging to the urban corridor Porto Alegre−Caxias do Sul. For the evaluation of employment behavior in the urban corridor, we used RAIS data that show employment relationships and business establishments registered with the Ministry of Labor and Employment. We also analyzed data from FEPAM on the location of industrial buildings and logistical warehouses. We believe that industrial decentralization occurred on the Porto Alegre – Caxias do Sul axis, for the municipalities of Serra Gaúcha and other municipalities in the RMPA that were not part of this study, such as Montenegro, Taquara, Charqueadas, Taquara, Triunfo and Gravataí, which presented significant concentrations of warehouses and industrial buildings in 2018, according to the mapping carried out by FEPAM.
