This article proposes a reflection on the social and cultural meaning of land and territory for indigenous peoples, in contrast with the territories established by the State, based on bureaucratic relations and power. The theoretical context, which includes researchers such as Bonnemaison, Pacheco de Oliveira, Haesbaert and Ramos, allows us to understand how these two different perspectives need to be considered in an integrated way and how the boundaries defined for indigenous lands do not meet the cultural and spiritual needs of these peoples.Downloads
