Estimates from the United Nations (UN) point to an increase in movement between countries, even though it includes challenges that are potentially harmful to the mental health of migrants. Given the psychological and social fragilities of populations on the move, an exploratory study was carried out to assess mental suffering through anxiety levels and the occurrence of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in twelve migrants hosted at "Casa do Migrante" in the city of Corumbá/MS. A sociodemographic questionnaire, the GAD-7 and PCL-C scales, clinical observation and interview were applied. The results indicate the presence of moderate and severe anxiety and PTSD in 41.67% (n=5) of participants. Experiences of grief, rejection, abandonment, murder, conflict, lack of resources and deprivation were reported in their life experiences. Due to the increase in the movement of individuals fleeing conflicts, persecution and difficulties, it is crucial to recognize the psychological impact of the migratory experience for the design of public policies that alleviate this suffering.
