O RESGATE DA CONSERVAÇÃO DO PINHEIRO BRASILEIRO (ARAUCARIA ANGUSTIFOLIA) PELA PRODUÇÃO PRECOCE DO PINHÃO:

UMA PROPOSTA BASEADA NUMA EXPERIÊNCIA DE PLANTIO DE ENXERTIA COM A TÉCNICA DE BORBULHIA EM SÃO FRANCISCO DE PAULA, RS

Abstract

This paper aims to present an alternative for the conservation of Araucaria angustifolia, a tree species from the Atlantic Forest Biome of southern Brazil, critically endangered. The purpose is to encourage the dissemination of information to rural landowners about the planting of early araucaria by bud grafting, where pine nuts can be produced in a shorter time than normal. This technique was developed by EMBRAPA Florestas and basically consists of removing a blade from the propagule of a productive plant and applied to a rootstock of an araucaria seedling. The importance of the production of araucaria seed, the pinhão, is mainly due to the feeding of wild fauna and the economic support of many rural families. From the point of view of technical procedures, this research was developed through Bibliographic and Experimental Research. Based on the results of the grafts, accompanied by technical readings, it was possible to present an experience report that could assist those who are interested in planting on their property. The main aspects observed are that the technique is easy to apply and low cost, but requires initial planning and the understanding that the process, between the rootstock seedlings and bud grafting, can take up to two years. In addition, after this period, special attention must be paid to the place where the definitive planting of the seedlings will be carried out, following all the growth until the production of the first pine cones.
