Intercultural Ethics and Human Rights

Abstract

The dilemma concerning the understanding of human rights in a universal perspective is undeniable before the challenges of cultural diversities. Although the existence of values which, must be considered universal, is sensible, we may not shut our eyes to differences.That is the necessary re-establishment concerning the present human right paradigm. A new culture of amplitude of rights and understanding that face difference assertions is, thus, produced. Such elaboration process may be expressed in a policy of cultural resistance, associated with the isonomy, which requires equal treatment, in the sense of the respect to everyone’s rights. The philosophy in its cultural and ethical horizon faces such challenge of gathering back together the different cultural experiences to guide one who does it in accordance with the historical circumstances of the praxis subjects. In the first step will be presented the scenario and the challenges of our era - marked by great perplexities and contradictions. In a second step we want to bring a rapid approach to the origin of Human Rights. And in a third step, we consider the fundamental task of designing a brief presentation of interculturality, or said more specifically, Philosophy and Ethics of Intercultural while critical benchmark of basic human rights.
