Abstract

Founded in a deserted place, the Lorvão Monastery was famous in the 12th century
for its library and for the production of works meticulously executed in its workshop or scriptorium.
But from everything that had been done until then by the small community of monks copyists, this
manuscript stands out for the beauty of the illuminations and the strength of the religious message.
Thus, the main purpose of this article is to present and interpret its textual form, composition,
iconography and illumination.
