Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The archive of submission is in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice or RTF.
  • The text follows the patterns of style and bibliographic requirements described in author guidelines, in the page about.

Author Guidelines

1) General rules:

  • Papers may be written in Spanish, English, French or Portuguese.
  • Length of the articles may vary between 30000 and a maximum of 50000 characters, including bibliographical references, figures, tables or maps.
  • Book reviews may vary between 8000 and a maximum of 15000 characters (spaces included).
  • Articles must be accompanied by a summary in the original language as well as in English. Length of a summary may not exceed 1000 characters (spaces included). Three keywords, both in the original language and in English, should be provided.
  • All papers may be submitted in Windows-compatible format, according to the following specifications: Times New Roman, font size 12, 1.5 spaced, A4-type pages, 2,5 cm margins, and page numbers in the bottom right.
  • Linguistic revision is the sole responsibility of authors.

 

2) Identification of authors:

  • On the first page, authors shall indicate: (a) the complete title of the article (in the original language and in English); titles shall not exceed 100 characters (spaces included); (b) their name, title, institutional attachment and e-mail address; (c) funding institutions may be thanked in a footnote, when relevant.
  • On the second page, authors should provide the complete title of the article (in the original language and in English), the summary and the keywords (also in the original language and in English). The text should then begin without any identification of its author, in order to ensure the anonymity of the assessment process.

 

3) References and notes:

Bibliographical references should be provided at the end of the text. Footnotes are restricted to absolutely necessary clarifications and will be numbered starting from 1.

4) Illustrations, tables, figures and maps:

  • They must be scanned with 300 DPIs and included in the body of the text as well as in distinct files (extensions .TIF or .JPG).
  • When appropriate, number and title must appear in the upper left part of the figure; sources and short explanatory notes (3 lines maximum) should appear in the lower left part.
