The split vote is a type of strategic and rational electoral behavior that transcends the stability of the normal or ideological partisan vote and relativizes the importance of the principles and programs that political parties propose according to their location in the political geometry. The level of incidence of this type of vote has been growing in the last two decades in Mexico, becoming a phenomenon that has increased its determination in the federal electoral results.
