The contact with the void of the human being, and its forms of social materialization, remain repressed element of our culture. Understanding how this occurs can be one of the ways in which human beings could understand their active place in the construction of the object society. In this article, we analyze the film The Platform (El hoyo, 2019) from a materialist-Lacanian perspective, based on the works of Freud (2010), Lacan (1988; 2002), Žižek (2016; 2013) Adorno (2008), Adorno and Horkheimer (2006), Lukács (2018) and others, as a means of problematizing how the film overcomes the promise of immediate victory for the oppressed class propagated by the cultural industry by establishing the acceptance of the ontological nothingness of being as a path to the a true event, the moment of pure subjectivity that gives form to the authentically human act as one of acceptance of Nothingness as its ontological substance.
