In this essay, we problematize theatrical mediation as a facilitating process for dialogue between artistic works and children through the appreciation of the play Os Botões das Camisas e das Rosas by Esboço Caótico Cia. de Teatro e Pesquisa Cênica. Based on the duly referenced notions of theatrical mediation, we present the materials created specifically for this mediation process, as well as accounts of experiences and questions from the actors and mediators. In conclusion, we will present the difference in perspective between the children who went through the mediation process and those who only appreciated the performance aesthetically.
