Abstract

Rodrigo García is a highly regarded name in the contemporary scenic arts, his work employing different languages, such as the performance art, technological media and dance. Born in Argentina and living in Spain, this playwright and theatre director has built an international career due to this participation in the main theatre festivals in Europe. García is acknowledged due to his iconoclastic stagings which confront established ethical values, focusing on relations of power in which violence submits and exposes human and animal bodies, thus creating impacting imagetic sequences. In this interview made in 2008, this director comments about his working methodology, the political significance of his stagings, as well as the effects which those works tend to exert upon the audiences.
