The feather fan is an immemorial object present not only in art, but in human history. Within the burlesque theater its function is to hide and then to reveal. Thus, the fan assumes a role of synthesis of the burlesque game itself, whose very name defines its language: the burla. Associated with these language matters, this article places its main focus on the historical issues of female nudity on stage. And as a territory for reflection and experimentation, I bring my personal experience, from a lineage of three generations of women artists, in Belém do Pará. To question the contemporaneity of these reflections in the daily life of a burlesque artist – with a fan in her hands – in our country. And also to consider: Is there still something to be revealed in dancing with feather fans in burlesque?
