Abstract

In this essay, we try to introduce an attempt to answer the question: Why does theater travel, and what does theater travel for? Our hypothesis is that theater has always traveled. And the reason for the trip is associated with a search for recognition and gratification. We suggest some clues from the mythology of the theater itself to try to explain the condition of this theatrical nomadism that reaches us today in different conditions.

Walter Lima Torres Neto, Universidade Federal do Paraná – UFPR, Curitiba/PR, Brasil

Walter Lima Torres Neto é formado em Artes Cênicas, pela UNI-RIO (1989). Foi coordenador do Curso de Direção Teatral da ECO/UFRJ (2000-2003). Atualmente é Professor Titular de Estudos Teatrais no Curso de Letras da UFPR. Traduziu e publicou Conversas sobre a Encenação(Editora 7 Letras, 2001). Autor de diversos artigos, lançou recentemente Ensaios de Cultura Teatral(Paco Editorial, 2016).
