Constantly Changing Artist: a chat with Sueli Araújo

Abstract

In this interview, Sueli Araújo, actress, director and playwright from Curitiba's CiaSenhas Theater Company, talks about her artistic trajectory: the events, people, concerns, learning, difficulties and transformative discoveries that continually encourage her to bet on encounter and exchange as an ethical-aesthetic-political position. The questions asked by the interviewer seek to highlight processes and movements in the artist's trajectory: experience of university education and university teaching; the paths that made her prioritize her work as a director and playwright; references and concerns that move her creative craft; the transit between theater and theater teaching; and the creation process of CiaSenhas, especially in the play Síncope, created in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Juliana Lima Liconti, Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro

Atriz e performer. Doutoranda em artes cênicas no PPGAC UNIRIO (bolsista CAPES). Mestre em Teatro PPGT UDESC. Atua nos coletivos: quandonde intervenções urbanas em arte, Performers sem Fronteiras e Grupo Nômade. Suas investigações artísticas têm como meio-fim o encontro. 

Sueli Cristina dos Santos Araújo, Universidade Estadual do Paraná

Possui graduação em Artes Cênicas Bacharelado pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná (1991), especialização em Fundamentos estéticos para arte-educação (1998), mestrado em Artes Cênicas pela Universidade Federal da Bahia (2008). É professora titular da Unespar - Campus 2 - Faculdade de Artes do Paraná. Tem experiência na área de Artes, com ênfase em Teatro, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: direção cênica, dramaturgia, narrativa, performatividade, espectação, teatro e cidade, curadoria, mostras, festivais.
