Abstract

This article brings together some aspects of Laban's biography by two international references - Valerie Preston-Dunlop (UK) and Karen Bradley (USA) - and other relevant works to profile a man and his labyrinthine paths in life. It proposes a relationship between art and life by articulating events from Laban's private life with the creation of his references for studies in the Art of Movement, which today circulate through different areas and study centers. Originally written for a conference on the great names of modern dance, this text aims to provide access to works, which have not been translated into Portuguese, by two authors connected to training centers of the Laban legacy - Trinity Laban (UK) and LIMS: Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies (USA) - that perform intense research on the life and work of Rudolf Laban. Based on the compilation of information less frequented by academic biographical texts, it is possible to attain aspects of a multidimensional labyrinth wherein Laban flows between life and art.
