Abstract

Micheliny Verunschk, a Brazilian writer acting since 2003, received some renewed attention in 2022 upon winning the Prêmio Jabuti for Romance Literário and placing in third at the Prêmio Oceanos, for O som do rugido da onça (2021). Here, a literature review regarding the work has been conducted to elucidate patterns and point to new paths of study, starting from the hypothesis of the importance of brushing history against the grain as described by Walter Benjamin (1987, p. 225). In total, 27 publications were identified which had as its main subject the novel (solely or comparatively), between 2021 and early 2026. Finally, there was an investigation of the presence, or absence, of studies about later literary productions of the author.
