Abstract

In this paper, besides presenting a new constructionist-oriented model, we intend to demonstrate the relevance of the PHONOLOGY node in morphological processes of Portuguese, such as vowel alternation ('form[o]so'/'form[Ɔ]sa'), accent shift as a class signal ('fábrica'/'fabrica'), and consonantal epenthesis between base and suffix ('cafezal', 'movediço'). Our goal is to disseminate this model, born out of the partnership between an eminent linguist, Ray Jackendoff, and an important morphologist nowadays, Jenny Audring. More than that, we bring evidence from Portuguese to this model, by highlighting that nodes in linguistic constructions are related but independent, and by noting the importance of the relationship between brother schemas.
