Abstract

This paper aims to reflect about  the place that multiple linguistic theories occupy in the development of Portuguese language teachers in undergraduate language courses, thinking about the indivisible relationship between the social function of language teaching and the praxis of a linguistic education that boosts the scientific content of the Portuguese language subject through active methodologies, we share the experience of the project Linguisticamente Falando in UFPB as a model to articulate linguistic theories and innovative practices. In this sense, starting from a critical look in order to discuss the relevance of linguistic theories and how they contribute to understanding teachers' formation, the article uses Antunes (2014), Quarezemin (2018), Vieira (2017), Pilati (2018) and Pacheco (2019) as main theorical references.
