Abstract

This paper aims to analyze how the Discourse Analysis (AD) materialist and dialogical understand the idea of freedom of the subject-speaker in the production of his saying. To this end, it conducts an incursion into key works of each chain, based mainly on Pêcheux (1995; 2008), Henry (2013), Volóchinov (2017), Bakhtin (2020) and Sobral (2009). It is noted that the materialistic perspective conceives a subject of language whose freedom is ultimately illusory, since the effect of ideology on the social level and the unconscious on the psychic level. .  The dialogical perspective, in turn, points to an understanding of a concrete subject, defined at the moment of enunciation, doubly responsive and responsible.
