Abstract

The main objective of this work is to analyze the first volume of the trilogy of diaries written by Argentine writer Ricardo Piglia, Formative years (2015), based on the concept of “performative self-writing” of the diary by Seligmann-Silva (2009;2022). I seek to debate how the author re-elaborates his life within his literature through remembrance and performative reinvention of the self. Additionally, the study also promotes a discussion about the role of testimony in the narrative, observing how reality/fiction and self/other intertwine in Piglia’s text. To achieve this, I have used as the main theoretical/critical basis Lejeune (2007; 2014), Blanchot (2005), Seligmann-Silva (2009; 2010; 2022), Derrida (2015), among others.
