Um projeto para a formação superior tecnológica
Abstract
Brazilian higher technological education is under pressure in the post-pandemic period, both academically and financially. The symptoms of a misalignment between university teaching and the needs of society and technological companies were already evident, and the pandemic, with the consolidation of remote and hybrid work models, reinforced this perception. Technological training in Brazil closely followed the Engineering model: an initial period focused on scientific content in mathematics and statistics, as well as on fundamentals such as theory of computation, algorithms, complexity, data structures, and computer architecture. The result is that students can only begin their professionalization at the end of this period. At the same time, short-term technical training courses are being launched to prepare professionals to operate the technologies most in demand in the market. The characteristics of traditional teaching need to be reviewed to maintain the excellence of academic training and meet the needs of both individuals and professionals.
