A COMÉDIA HUMANA - DE HONORÉ DE BALZAC A ERICO VERISSIMO
Abstract
ABSTRACT: This article proposes a reflection on the place of Erico Verissimo (1905-1975) in Brazilian Literature, reviewing canonical critical positions and establishing a comparison between his urban novels (published between 1933 and 1943) and Honoré de Balzac's Comédie Humaine (published between 1829 and 1850). The aim here is to analyze the work of the Brazilian writer through a parallel with Balzac's work and the ideas on the novel genre of György Lukács and Anne Carson.
