Responsabilidade e ética da terra: habitar o Antropoceno
Resumo
A segunda metade do século XX foi um momento de aceleração do desenvolvimento tecnocientífico e da sua aplicação à dominação da natureza para satisfação de finalidades humanas. Esta aceleração teve como base linhas de orientação epistemológicas, ontológicas, éticas e políticas relativas à relação entre ser humano e natureza propostas no período moderno, nomeadamente na Revolução Científica dos séculos XVI-XVII. Mas foi no período posterior a 1945 que os impactos ambientais de atividades humanas começaram a tornar-se mais conspícuos, levando a uma reavaliação da relação entre ser humano e natureza e ao estabelecimento da ética ambiental como campo autônomo do saber na academia. O propósito deste artigo é apresentar os principais elementos teóricos de duas perspectivas pioneiras da ética ambiental – a ética da responsabilidade de Hans Jonas e a ética da terra de Aldo Leopold –, enfatizando a interrelação e relevância dos seus contributos para a compreensão e potencial resolução dos desafios mais urgentes colocados pelo Antropoceno.
