Guia ilustrado da flora campestre do Centro de Pesquisas de Viamão (DDPA-SEAPI/RS), Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil

Abstract

The Pampa Biome is characterized by extensive grassland areas, currently reduced to a few remaining areas. The Centro de Pesquisas de Viamão pertence ao Departamento de Diagnóstico e Pesquisa Agropecuária (DDPA), which makes up one of the sectors of the Secretaria Estadual da Agricultura, Pecuária e Desenvolvimento Rural do Rio Grande do Sul, and still houses valuable relicts of the characteristic vegetation of the Pampa. Knowing these places is extremely important and essential for the current and future maintenance of the countryside vegetation of this Biome. The objective of this work was to identify, catalog and photograph the countryside flora and make this information available through an illustrated guide which will serve as a subsidy for scientific research and knowledge of the local flora. For this purpose, 33.2 hectares of the Centro de pesquisa Viamão were sampled, using the walking method. As a result, 315 species were registered, distributed in 46 botanical families and 119 genera. The families with the highest number of species were Asteraceae (81 species), Poaceae (58) and Fabaceae (21). Of the total number of species, eight are on the List of Native Flora Threatened with Extinction in the State of Rio Grande do Sul. In addition to endangered species, this site is home to at least 180 species that occur exclusively or predominantly in conserved environments in the Pampa. Attached to this guide, a list is presented with all the species found as well as the category of threatened and which occur only in conserved places.
