From Asia to Africa and the whole world: Suresh Kumar and the Department of African Studies of Delhi University

Abstract

During the contestation processes against the colonialisms, in the second part of the twentieth century, the studies departments and centers of the emerging countries of the known Third World were of pivotal importance to build networks of scientific, economic and political solidarity. Among these institutions, it stands out the Department of African Studies of Delhi University. In the following interview planned by the Center of History on Contemporary Africa (Núcleo de História sobre África Contemporânea - NHAC) of UNIFESP, Suresh Kumar, current director of the Department of African Studies, brings out a relevant contribution about the trajectories between the independent India and the African countries and highlights the importance extending the dialogues with Brazil and the Latin America, during the meeting with NHAC in Delhi, in March of 2017.
