This article results from an investigation into the approach that Jornal do Brasil built on the revolutionary process in Portugal between 1974 and 1976. It seeks to demonstrate that the Portuguese context from the so-called Carnation Revolution was activated with a view to elaborating projections in in which the Iberian country appeared as a glimpse of future scenarios for Brazil. Three dimensions identified in the documentation are explored: overcoming the Salazar regime through military action was a possible path towards a regime transition; subsequently, with the revolutionary radicalization in Portugal, there is a rejection of solutions that involved ruptures and the possible hegemony of the left; Finally, an agreed political transition, led by military and civilians, under Western values, would be the desirable scenario for countries on both sides of the Atlantic.
