Gender in Ancient Greece in Teaching Materials: a comparative analysis between the Projeto Mosaico and a product of the Programa de Licenciaturas

Abstract

During the years 2017 and 2018, I’ve had the opportunity to develop two projects as a scholar of the “Programa de Licenciaturas” of the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (PROLICEN - UFSM). The research resulted in the development of two didactic materials with the Greek mythology theme and focused on the gender discussion. It also resulted in my undergraduate dissertation. In this paper, we deepened discussions initiated in the undergraduate dissertation, through a comparative analysis between the textbook used by the classes with which we developed one of the projects, and the didactic video produced as a PROLICEN’s scholar in 2017. In the analysis, we bring elements of the textbook’s contents to discuss its appropriateness on the gender debate, and pointed issues involving the production of books and other didactic materials, defending the endeavour to improve History teaching quality.
