“In search of a place, creating concepts”: the construction of male homossexual identity from the newspapers Snob and Lampião da Esquina

Abstract

This article aims to understand the development and the discussion about the homosexuality exposed in the periodicals O Snob and Lampião da Esquina, written in the decade of 1960’s to the beggining of the 1980’s. It is intended to analyze how homosexuality was perceived and understood through the historical and personal context of the main writers. Therefore, through the analysis of the political languages and the identification of the current linguistic context, we will point out the main debates arising from argumentative opinions that brought ideological discourses with the objective of transforming the perspective of homosexuality in Brazil, now discussed and proposed as a relation between the equal pairs, as occurs in the newspaper Snob. Or like object of positive interactions needing to reclaim their spaces in power - Lampião da Esquina.
