Abstract

The United States was born as a republic ruled by the future. However from the 1980s, a change could be felt. The shaking of many of the premises that had guided the country until then became a challenge to the futurism in the country. Rather, the future, the place to which everyone looked with hope, to which past and present are subdued, increasingly emerged as an obscure and undesirable perspective, marking a new form of relationship with time. This change is part of a broader process of transformation from modernity into “postmodernity”, in which we have seen many of the radically determinants of modernity are transformed. My objective is precisely to analyze the dimension of the crisis in the order of time brought about by postmodernity, in particularly how the field of political dispute in the United States reflected and answered it.
